The MAPGA is Proud to announce its 2019 Hall of Fame Class!

Next year, we will induct two new members to the MAPGA Hall of Fame: Mike Ahrnsbrak, PGA and Wayne DeFrancesco, PGA.

Ahrnsbrak, 62, has been a PGA Member for 37 years.  He was elected Secretary of the MAPGA in 1991, ultimately rising to President in November 1995. He also served at the National level, elected to the District-10 Director position in 2010. He is well known for being the Head PGA Professional at Shenandoah Valley GC for 15 years (1985-1999).  After a short stint with an internet company (NetGolfShop.com) and consulting, Mike came back to green grass at Musket Ridge GC (four years), Blue Ridge Shadows Resort (nine years), and Lexington Golf & CC for two years.  Mike and his wife Ann just recently moved to Wilmington, NC where Mike is the General Manager at Pine Valley CC.

DeFrancesco, 60, earned his membership in 1993.  He is quite an accomplished player. Wayne won three Section Championships (2000, 2001, 2007), three Maryland Opens (1994, 1995, 2005) and three MAPGA Match Play titles (1996, 2004, 2006). However, perhaps his biggest win was the 2001 National Club Professional Championship at Sunriver Resort, which he won wire-to-wire.  Wayne was a Four-time MAPGA Player of the Year, as well as the 1994 MAPGA Teacher of the Year and 1998 MAPGA Horton Smith Trophy.  Wayne spent 13 years as an instructor at Woodholme CC, then eight years at Woodmont CC and has been at Lakewood CC since 2014.

The MAPGA has officially moved the 2018 Club Car MAPGA Pro-President Championship, May 14, from Woodholme to Fountain Head Country Club in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The entry deadline is May 2, at 12:00 PM EDT.

MAPGA Welcomes Textron Golf, TaylorMade Golf, Mizuno USA, PTE Golf, and Impact Improver as Section Sponsors

Textron Golf returns to the Section this year as the Title Sponsor of both the E-Z-GO MAPGA Match Play Championship and Players Cup. Taking three of golf’s most respected and trusted brands – E-Z-GO, Cushman, and Jacobsen [which together represent 250 years of serving golf courses and resorts around the world] – and empowering those brands to build proven, high-performance products and infuse them with innovative technology makes them more reliable, easier to maintain, and more efficient.

TaylorMade Golf also returns to the Section this year as a Presenting Sponsor of the MAPGA Head and Teaching Professional Championships. Since 1979, TaylorMade Golf's mission has remained the same, create the best performing golf products in the world that help players of all skill levels reach their potential.

Mizuno USA, a highly respected and visible manufacturer of golf clubs and accessories (e.g., their Grain Flow Forged irons are used by a number of professional golfers), also returns to the Section this year as a Presenting Sponsor of the MAPGA Pro-Net Championship.

PTE Golf is a new Section sponsor this year, who provides custom tournament enhancement items for the Professional looking to enhance the image at their club. They are a Supporting Sponsor of the Club Car MAPGA Four-Ball Championship.
